January update!

Hi all,

It's hard to believe we're back in school almost a month since Christmas! Where does the time go?! I hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas break, and ate lots of yummy food - I know I did! Here's a quick update on what we've been getting up to over the past couple of weeks...

In order to celebrate the commencement of 2018, we learned all about China and the Chinese New Year. We learned about the life of Chinese children and the differences between their daily life and ours. The children felt super fortunate that they have only five and a half hours of school in comparison to Chinese children, who are faced with 9 whole hours of school a day!! The children created Chinese paper lanterns which they decorated beautifully with cherry blossom flowers. They also made Chinese drums. Here are some pictures of the hard work the children put into their art and their China projects.

On the theme of new beginnings, we were lucky enough to have been given our own class tree to plant. We had great fun helping Rosemary and Gráinne plant our 3rd and 4th class silver birch tree. Here's a quick look at our gardeners at work...

Our writing genre of the month is report writing. Check out some of the gang hard at work, diligently carrying out their research and gathering information to create projects on ants and penguins.

That's all for now guys, thanks for stopping by! I'll be sure to keep you updated with the goings-on in third and fourth class over the forthcoming weeks. I hope you all have a lovely week.

Slán!
